Counselling (also: Coaching) is rather related to a specific, clearly defined topic that you would like to solve: a current conflict, for example, or an upcoming decision. A therapeutic process, on the other hand, it is rather characterised by a desire for mental growth, a pain that affects several areas of life or by wanting to improve a relationship as a whole. It is also rather about emotionally understanding causes and healing change resulting from it.
In actual practice, however, the difference between counselling and therapy doesn't really matter. Both aim to make you feel better soon. And contrary to what the term “counselling” implies, it’s not just about giving advice. I understand my role more as encouraging you to develop your own solution ideas. I will accompany you and, as is the motto of QUEER COUNSELLING, I will be happy to be by your side.
